Our 2021 Year in Review

Our 2021 Year in Review

Before we wrap up 2021 with a big pink bow, we had to reflect on the last 365 days of the year.

The process of self reflection is a very meaningful one for us. It helps us see just how far we’ve come and helps pave the path for where we want to go.

At House of Lashes our core values are the foundation for everything we do. They are embodied in the culture at our office, the inspiration behind our products, and can be found embedded within the WHY behind our company.

To show you just how connected we all are here at House of Lashes, we asked different members of our team to share how our core values were most present in their lives both at work and at home throughout the year.

This is what they had to say…

Innovation

We began by asking our fearless leader, CEO, and founder what her favorite product launch of 2021 was and what she is most excited about for 2022…

“My favorite product launch this year was definitely the Secret Collection. It took years to manifest this collection to reality. From creating the most comfortable and versatile lash styles & fibers to our sustainable packaging that is all made of FSC certified biodegradable materials, this collection is my absolute favorite. It’s innovative because it supports the ecosystem of our environment, while helping you look, feel and do good all at the same time.

What I am most excited for in 2022 is to combine our innovation in the digital space with our products. To offer high quality products that are timeless and versatile to fit every lash goal or lifestyle.”

Empowerment

Next, we asked one of our Lash Consultants, Anahi, what her favorite part of empowering others is…

My favorite part of empowering our community is speaking encouraging words and seeing those come to life. The best feeling in the world is when I’m guiding someone on how to apply their lashes or providing them with makeup tips and seeing them get so excited as they are trying it. I can really sense a feeling of gratitude. It makes me feel happy knowing that I just helped someone by teaching them something new or providing them with recommendations to help them enhance their natural beauty. Their energy just shines every time and it’s amazing, because as I am empowering others, they are also empowering me.

One piece of advice that I would give my younger self is that self confidence is a game changer. Growing up I always tended to look down as I was walking and felt like I needed to hide from the world because I wasn’t like everyone else. But, little did I know that just seeing yourself as “that girl” will give everyone else the same energy about you. Now that I am older, I know how important it is to show myself some love because it allows me to spread love and empowerment to those around me. A great piece of advice that I can pass along to others is that everyone has their own perception of what confidence is, and as long as you know you are, then that’s all that matters.”

Quality of Excellence

How has your role as Project Manager helped you understand the meaning of Quality of Excellence at work and in your life?

“I strive to maintain a Quality of Excellence within project management, but also as a general practice in anything I do. My role as Project Manager plays many parts from project scoping, managing timelines, updating & communicating with the team, maintaining resources, and more. I uphold a Quality of Excellence in everything I do as I want my work to reflect in the team's hard work.

This year has been the year of new beginnings: I started at House of Lashes in May and I received a pair of roller skates for my birthday, so it has been super enlightening going back to the basics and learning new techniques. Learning how to roller skate was at first so challenging and overwhelming, but it actually helped a ton to go back to what I know with project management and upholding a Quality of Excellence. By practicing and perfecting each move like stopping, transitions, and backwards skating, I was able to build a foundation and eventually build to learn new tricks. I'm no expert, but I'm slowly getting there!”

Integrity

We asked our graphic designer Stevi, how has integrity been relevant in your life / experiences this past year?

“Being raised with integrity is something I am very proud of. My dad instilled the importance of honesty, explaining if people can't trust your words, they won't trust who you are. This past year, with the way the world had been recently, honesty and clear communication seemed even higher in importance. Many people feel "honesty" is harsh, but if you choose your words wisely and speak with empathy, integrity can become one of your greatest qualities.”

Community

We asked our Marketing advisor, Nick, how he defines community and how it’s shaping his quality of life…

“Community is a reflection of a lot of things…it consists of your family, your friends, co-workers, and neighbors. The individuals you interact with at the local Farmer’s Market, the people you do business with, the different groups & clubs you are a part of, they all make up your community.

And your community is influenced by your environment, your values, your career, your hobbies, and a variety of other things that all help tell a story.

Our community is a reflection of what’s important to us and what we prioritize.

As we grow and evolve over the course of our lives our communities might change…and that’s okay! In fact, it can be a good thing, particularly as we continue to explore and experiment to uncover what’s truly important to us in life.

My journaling process over the past few months has allowed me to tap into a side of myself that had long since been pushed aside. It’s incredible what we discover about ourselves when we allow for the space and time to reflect and be present with our thoughts.

My process of journaling and self reflection is reshaping different aspects of the community in which I engage - and I couldn’t be more excited about it!

It has led to me re-prioritizing things like conferences, weekly check-ins with friends (both old and new), and time with family. I’ve always been one to set and strive for goals, but I never really thought about including social or community-based goals until this year. And I have to say, I’m really enjoying the new connections I’m making, conversations I’m having, and shared experiences!

My advice to others - live a conscious life, be intentional, and set goals and take action that are aligned with your values. And remember, you can pivot and change anytime you wish when something feels out of alignment!”
-Nick

As we leave you with these inspiring words from our team, we encourage you to reflect on the core values that help guide YOUR life.

It’s always a good idea to refocus and revisit beliefs that help shape the life you are living. It can also be really insightful, and above all else, empowering!

You are the creator of your own life, so set values that inspire you to live your best life.

Wishing you and your family a wonderful Holiday Season and a prosperous new year!
